About Remote Desktop Connection
The remote desktop technology allows you to connect to a remote computer and through internet and share its resources like files, data and all other programs. You can connect to your office computer from home computer through remote desktop utility and access the office computer's resources like files, folders and other data.
The remote desktop utility is installed in Windows XP by default. The remote desktop can be accessed by the following procedure:
Start --> All programs --> Accessories --> Communication --> Remote Desktop Connection

You can connect to a remote computer through the remote desktop utility. The remote computer should have windows operating system running on it and that computer should be a part of your network or you can connect through internet. The remote computer should be kept in on condition and you must have been given permission to access it.
You can use this path to connect to a remote computer. Start -->All programs --> Accessories --> Communiations --> Remote Desktop Connection and then you have to provide the IP address of the remote computer when prompted to do so.
Once the IP address is given, you can click on Connect button on the dialog box, type your user name and password if prompted.
You also make sure that your firewall program does not block the remote desktop connection port. If you are using a third party firewall software, you should ensure that this port 3389 is open.
