Pune - City of Two Wheelers
Pune had once been Called a City of two wheelers, meaning thereby in every house, there used to be two wheelers, more than one. Women can be seen practically at equal number of men in 2 wheelers.
My association with Pune dates back to many years where I had been umpteen number of times on both official and unofficial visits. The people of Pune are friendly and courteous. While being modern Punekars bve maintained the age old tradition and culture. During one of my recent visit to USA, I had occasions to inter act with many Indians and when somebody refers to as being Pune and Mumbai, a sense of nostalgia sets in. With the expansion of the city in recent years, almost all banks have a representative office also with the setting up of many information technology centers in and around Pune, BPOs, and compared to the recent populatio n boom the reported crime rates do not deserve any special mention. Pune and its surroundinvg areas including Lonavala is the weekend destination for Mumbaikars With its number of temples and historical places, Pune is always considered a Tourist Place. Lonavala and Khandala resorts are also frequently visited by tourists. With right timing there are number of interesting sight seeing places in and around Pune. Nowadays Pune is well connected by air.
